What is mounted shootingIt's a competitive equestrian sport regulated by several national organizations such as CSA (Cowboy Sports Association) . This sport requires the riding of a horse to negotiate a shooting pattern where targets are engaged with blank ammunition
No live ammunition is used. This exciting competition reminds spectators of cowboys of the old west! Armed with two single actions 45 caliber pistols, the competitor speeds through a course designed to test their horsemanship skills and shooting ability -all put together. While navigating through a course, the rider must shoot 5 targets holster one revolver draw the second revolver and shoot the remaining 5 targets Scoring is based on speed, accuracy and following the course of fire correctly. The target used are balloons and ammunition is black powder blanks for safety. There are levels for competitors based on mounted shooting experience and wins, even entry levels (cowpoke and apprentice) for competitors on lead line or anyone that's learning to put it all together. We also offer all members a Shooting Horse certification program to gain recognition for their horse in the sport of Mounted Shooting Mounted Gun Runners offers something for everyone ! |

In November 2011 Geary and Bernadette Manuel founded Mounted Gun Runners . From their love of family, friends, horses, single action pistols, and competition Mounted Gun Runners was formed. First and foremost we have FUN and enjoy our animals ! We are an affiliate club of CSA (Cowboy Sports Association), which is a national organization. The Mounted Gun Runners are a not-for-profit organization. We are ran by our volunteer members for the benefit of our members. We are family oriented club. No matter your age or level of rider you are welcome here! Open to toddlers to seniors with classes and levels for all. We only use single action 45's and they are loaded with black powder blanks We add speed, marksmanship, and horsemanship to make already exciting sport even more exciting! To get started in this sport, a CSA membership a is required. |
